How does Medigap Plan D work and what does it cover?
This Medicare Supplementary plan is offered by Medicare-approved private healthcare insurance companies to cover expenses left by Original Medicare.
Medigap Plan D has the following benefits
- Medicare Part A hospital and coinsurance expenses for up to an additional 365 days after depleting your Medicare benefits.
- Medicare Part A hospice care coinsurance and copayments.
- Medicare Part A deductibles
- Medicare Part B copayments or coinsurances
- The first three pints of blood during medical procedures
- Skilled nursing healthcare facility coinsurance
- Foreign travel healthcare emergency coverage of up to 80%
Medigap Plan D does not cover Medicare Part D excess charges and deductibles.
Am I eligible for Medigap Plan D?
To be eligible for Medigap Plan D, you need to be a Social Security services beneficiary who is over 65 years of age or below 65 living with a disability. Additionally, you have to be enrolled in Medicare Part B to receive Medicare Supplementary services coverage.
